Lif Education was established in 1972 as the result of a still increasing need
for ensuring that the personnel employed in Lif’s member companies possesses
sufficient specialist knowledge to enable them to provide precise and adequate
information about medicinal products.
Since the early beginning in 1972, the education has undergone a formalisation
and as of 1 April 1995, it has become mandatory to pass the Lif Examination in
order to be able to work as a medical sales representative in Lif’s member
companies. The Lif Examination always has to be passed when an employee
provides information about pharmacy-only medicines – whether these are
prescription-only or non-prescription medicinal products.
In addition to the Lif Examination, Lif Education also offers a wide range of
further educational courses, e.g. a formalised education in Clinical Research
and Drug Development. This education consists of a series of courses, which all
are concluded with an examination – Introduction to Clinical Drug Research;
Diploma in GCP Monitoring; Clinical Drug Development: Sub Course A – Clinical
Pharmacology, Sub Course B – Methodology and Statistics and Sub Course C –
Clinical Development Plan. In addition to this series of courses, Lif Education
also offers courses in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology.
